Proposal at the Washington Duke Inn

Sunday, I had the honor of photographing a beautiful proposal at the Washington Duke Inn. Alpis flew in from Mexico to propose to his girlfriend of 3 years, Sofia, who is about to graduate from Duke Grad. school.  Alpis had every detail planned out perfectly.  First, he surprised her by showing up Sat. night when he showed up without telling her he was going to be in town.  On Sunday they had brunch at the Inn and then took  a walk where a server greeted Sofia with a serving tray containing a letter.  The letter said, “Will you marry me?”.  As she opened it, he dropped to one knee with the ring.  She said yes!!!!!

My husband, Dew, acted as my assistant for the day and we captured the whole thing.  We pretended to be there photographing the golfers until the time was ready.  Such a beautiful experience.  Afterwards, we followed with an engagement photo shoot at Duke Gardens.

Above is a link to a few cats that are in need of homes.  Two of them, Harlow and Garbo, were adopted for a year and returned to IAR because the person developed allergies.  Harry lost an eye but is still adorable and playful.  Meet him and you will fall in love.

This is Jessica, Harry’s sister.

The Have a Heart event on Sunday for Independent Animal Rescue was amazing.  Rigsbee Hall was beautifully decorated with lighting by “Get Lit”.  The food was amazing with food from some of the nicest restaurants in Durham such as Four Square and Nana’s.

I am uploading all the photos I took of the event here:
